Study Purpose

The purpose of the Indoor Active study is to evaluate the feasibility of an indoor physical activity program in young children and identify indoor activities that allow children to achieve moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, as they would in outdoor environments.

About the Study

Eligible participants will visit the Pennington Biomedical clinic at the beginning of the study and complete a series of activities (e.g., coloring, dancing, and jumping jacks). You will then complete a survey on the child’s home environment and report how possible the activities are for the child to do in an indoor setting. Your child will receive an accelerometer (activity monitor like a Fitbit) to wear for 7 days, and survey to complete at home about your home environment to return after the second visit.

After one week, visit two will take place. A researcher will video conference with you to check on how wearing the accelerometer went and completion of the at-home survey.
