Study Purpose

The purpose of the Indoor Active study is to evaluate the feasibility of an indoor physical activity program in young children and identify indoor activities that allow children to achieve moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, as they would in outdoor environments.

About the Study

Eligible participants will visit the Pennington Biomedical clinic at the beginning of the study and complete a series of activities (e.g., coloring, dancing, and jumping jacks). You will then complete a survey on the child’s home environment and report how possible the activities are for the child to do in an indoor setting. Your child will receive an accelerometer (activity monitor like a Fitbit) to wear for 7 days and return at the 3rd visit.

During week two, a researcher will video conference with you to test your child’s motor skills. During week three, your child will perform the same motor skill activities as done in visit 2, and you will complete additional surveys.
