SCALE KIDS Study

Study Type

Pediatrics

Study Purpose

The purpose of the Scale Kids research study is to test whether a study drug can lower body weight in children with obesity.

About the Study

Eligible participants will visit the Pennington Biomedical clinic at the beginning of the study for a screening visit. Once enrolled, your child will either get liraglutide (the study drug) or a placebo. Which treatment your child gets is decided by chance. Liraglutide is a new medicine for children, but it can already be prescribed by doctors to adolescents and adults (age 12 and up) with overweight or obesity. Your child will get 1 injection every day.

Participants and/or their parents will be asked to fill in a diary between some of the study visits.
