Mini Movers Study

Study Type

Pediatrics

Study Purpose

The purpose of the Mini Movers study is to figure out what active play, screen-time, and sleep look like in the home environment. We want to find ways to help kids move more and sleep well.

About the Study

Eligible participants will visit the Pennington Biomedical clinic for two study visits, and the second visit can be virtual. The first visit will last approximately 60 minutes and consist of completing a consent, questionnaires, child height and weight, the child performing cognitive, language, and motor skill tasks, and attaching a wearable device (like a pedometer) to the child’s wrist. A staff member will download the study-specific app onto the parent’s phone and provide a tutorial on how to use it for the week. Parents will answer mini surveys during the week about their child’s physical activity, screen-time, and sleep. Parents will have the option of visit 2 being completed in person or virtually, where they will participate in a qualitative interview.
